I am a bit surprised to find that very often we cannot be fully aware of what we really have without being mindfull of what could be denied to us. Too many things are taken for granted, and their value and significance to our life fail to be appreciated.

Now think about this: I'm not having Parkinson's, I'm not having Meniere's, I'm not having Alzheimer's..., all of which can restrict, sometimes significantly, my capacity of appreciating and enjoying my life. I feel I am lucky, as I know if I go to hospitals I will see many many people who are not as fortunate as me. Their suffering and my exemption from it are usually explained by luck or bad luck. It's sheer luck. Lots of mishaps can only be attributed to luck, which we can do nothing about.

I have a functioning body, and I have a sound brain, both of which help open the door of the world and allow me to see and experience so many wonders there...
